“Come join us. You already belong!”
Come celebrate Rosh Hashanah at Desert Outreach Synagogue. Rosh Hashanah is a festive time when we gather together to reflect on the past year to improve ourselves for the next. On Rosh Hashanah, we read the tragic and transforming family story of Sarah, Hagar, Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac. We read it on a holiday emphasizing teshuvah, turning around, becoming a better person, and living a life closer to what G-d wants from us. How can we experience teshuvah? Teshuvah needs to include empathy, empathetic listening, paying attention, hearing beyond words to the soul, and meaning of what is uttered. On Rosh Hashanah, we ask G-d to be empathetic toward us, even though empathy is so often lacking in ourselves.
